MASTER OF REALITY's CHRIS GOSS Keeps Busy With New QUEENS, AUF DER MAUR CDs
April 23, 2002MASTERS OF REALITY mainman Chris Goss will be playing guitar with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE at next week's Coachella Music Festival in the Palm Springs desert. FOO FIGHTERS leader Dave Grohl will be sitting behind the kit for the performance, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 27th, immediately prior to BJORK's set. The following evening at the festival will mark Dave's final appearance with the FOO FIGHTERS for at least a year, during which time he will hit the road with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE in support of the latter's upcoming Songs For The Deaf CD.
In other Goss-related news, he and Grohl have also reportedly been doing quite a bit of guitar and vocal recording on new songs being cut for the still-unfinished new QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE album. Apparently, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE have broken off their working relationship with producer Eric Valentine due to “creative differences” and are currently utilizing Goss' services fore the remainder of the sessions. Goss will also shortly resume work on ex-HOLE/SMASHING PUMPKINS bassist Melissa Auf der Maur's solo LP following his Coachella appearance appearance with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. Melissa and Chris will be recording for the next two months at various L.A. studios for a late 2002/early 2003 release through an as-yet-undisclosed label.
During a recent break from Melissa's record, Goss produced ten new tracks in one day for QOTSA bassist Nick Oliveri's side project MONDO GENERATOR at L.A.'s Conway studio. Goss has also completed work on MASTERS OF REALITY's upcoming live LP, entitled Flack and Flight, recorded during the band's late 2001 European tour and featuring QOTSA's Homme and Oliveri. Also in the works is the release of Chris' long-awaited solo CD, which is presently untitled.
